4 Ways to Style with Indoor Plants

Refresh your living space with stylish indoor plants! Here are four unique ways to transform any room into a lush green oasis.

Living with plants in your life is so important. We spend so much time indoors and real plants bring so many health benefits, along with making our indoor spaces beautiful and organic! Have you heard the adage, “green is the new black”? I think I may have taken this to the extreme, as our home is starting to look like an indoor jungle. But if you are a plant lover like me, then go ahead and read our “4 Ways to Style with Indoor Plants” and find out some simple ways to glam up your indoor greenery.

Choose your Pot wisely!

In many ways your pot choice is just as important as your plant choice! The right planter can not only make your life much easier when you are trying to keep your plant alive, but it also enhances the display with its colour and design. We love the Mr Kitly Pot range for its simplicity in shape, range of sizes and colours.

They have a  self-watering design that makes keeping plants alive a breeze and no water drainage issues! Better yet they are made in Melbourne, are BPA free and our Plant Stand range are designed to fit their 17cm, 25cm and 30cm pots.

We also love these hand painted planters by Toast & Honey Studio, in fact, we love them so much that we designed our walnut plant stand range to fit these pots. You can find our exquisite collection of walnut plant stands here and read on below!

Get some height to your plant display

Getting your plants off the floor helps bring the aesthetic balance required when furnishing a space. Pets and little children can also enjoy messing around with the soil, so you may want to consider the height of your plant and plant stand if you have pets of little children! Using plant stands allow shorter plants to become more visible, and also enables plants to not get lost when grouped together. Consider using plant stands in the corner, in between awkward spaces of furniture, or even in little places such as behind a free standing bath to bring greenery to places that you wouldn’t normally be able to display a plant.

We make two ranges of plant stands, our Victorian Ash plant stands are designed to fit the Mr Kitly Pots and our Walnut plant stands are designed for the handpainted pots by Toast & Honey Studio. However, you can use any pots you like, just use our measurements as a guide.

Turn your plants into works of art

Plant foliage is such a beautiful thing to behold. Each leaf shape, colour and texture provide such great visual interest. So think about styling with plants, like you style with artworks. For example, the colours of your artwork can be replicated in other parts of your decor, and likewise with plants, the colours of the foliage can be in complimentary tones to the other parts of decor in the space.

Displaying your plants on the wall, as you would a piece of art, is also a great way to vary the height of your plants and allow your eye to enjoy the greenery at all heights. We recommend displaying your plants on a shelf; they will look great on their own or mixed with other decor accessories. You can try books, vases, artworks, plates, trinkets, candles etc to create a visual journey. Shelves also give great opportunity for the trailing plants to cascade down and show off their natural beauty. Make sure you use a mix of upright and plants that trail down or climb to give your plant vignette variation, texture and perspective.

Suspend your plants from the ceiling or up high

Sometimes shelves aren’t always an option, the space might be too small, there might be other amenities or furniture on the wall or inside a very open space, there might not be many options for shelves. So you need to go vertical with your greenery!

This is where suspending your plants from the ceiling, or using a wall bracket to hang your plant hanger can open up new possibilities for adding the life and vitality to your spaces that only plants can bring.

When selecting a plant hanger make sure you consider the size of the pot you are using, the type of plant that you will be displaying and the height that you need. Not too high that you can’t see it, and not too low that it becomes a safety hazard for heads! You can find some of the genuine leather plant hangers that we make by clicking here. Hooks that go into your ceiling can be purchased at your local hardware store.

Wall brackets also make a great way to hang plants from a height with minimal wall space required. They are a great way to brighten up a dull corner of a room, or frame a window or mounted above a bathtub for ultimate tranquility! We make two sizes of wall brackets, and are available in a variety of finish options, click here to view our range.

Bring the natural vibrancy of green into your home and breathe new life into it. We trust these easy tips, have got you thinking on how you can create and personalise your living space that is full of vitality.
